Artist Statement - I love painting pictures of things that are realistic, but at the same time I like to take these realistic images and their forms, shapes, lines and allow different shapes, forms and lines to emerge by making them gesture and soft around the edges and playful. These playful emerging shapes and lines become abstract and the realistic image returns to an abstract form. These abstract forms I believe are what form used to be before language took over. For me taking a realistic form and turning it into some form of abstraction is like returning form back to it’s origins. I paint with watercolors and acrylics. I use colored pencils, India ink and graphite bars and whatever else lends itself to letting form and line emerge. I paint on various kinds of paper and canvas. Real objects never becomes frozen in time but are instead something that can be played with something that is imagined. I call this playground “Motley Space"."

All of Christine's Original Paintings can be created as Giclee Prints or mono print.
What is a Giclee print?  Giclée printing has become a highly visible and rapidly growing segment of the fine art and photography world. In the art publishing field, inkjet prints have come to be called giclee prints. Giclée (pronounced gee-CLAY) is a French word that means squirt or spurt. In this usage, giclée alludes to the digitally-controlled inkjet nozzles of a printer which precisely squirts millions of microscopic droplets of ink per second onto the media in place to form the image. A typical the detail and color vibrancy exceeds traditional print-making technologies such as lithographs and serigraphs. The prints have a unique; quality that is very appealing to the artist, dealer, and collector alike.

What is a "Mono" Print?    All prints are mono edition prints. Mono prints are Monoprints are known as the most painterly method among the printmaking techniques. A monoprint is often regarded as a non-editionable kind of print and is essentially a printed painting. The characteristic of this method is that no two prints are alike. The beauty of this medium is also in its spontaneity and its combination of printmaking, painting and drawing media. Retail prices depend entirely upon the size of the printed image requested, but are roughly .35 cents per square inch on watercolor paper, or .40 cents per square inch on canvas, with a minimum cost of $45.00, not including shipping. All prints come with a certificate of authenticity signed by the artist and the printmaker, stating when the print was created, and which paper and inks were used. This certificate ensures that this image has not been reproduced without permission of the artist. Please feel free to contact Christine with any questions or concerns about these prints, and I will be happy to explain further and/or give you a price on a particular image and size.
