"Three Kings"
12x12
Mixed media on Paper
From Pam:
Now, the third image is more difficult to explain and I almost
hesitated to say it. But I am determined not to censor
with self-talk (doubt) and trust and just be open to His voice.
In the lower part of the painting, I now can see a strong figure
with arms stretched up toward heaven. With the weight of the
world on him (Him)? It is as if the figure is literally
lifting up the weight of the world (our cares and worries?) toward
Heaven. The scripture that came was:
Matthew 11:28
21st Century King James Version (KJ21)
28"Come unto Me all ye that labor and
are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
and:
1 Peter 5:7
New King James Version (NKJV)
7 casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.
Now on to the "Three Kings". My goodness, I just LOVE this
piece!!! Why do you say it is "too tight"? Many of your
other paintings are looser in style, but I think the tightness in
this really works beautifully! And the color combination is
stunning!!! In it I see the anticipation and joy of the three
kings on their way to find the Christ-child. They are bringing
their gifts, and carrying lanterns too. They are making haste!
Matthew 2:10
New King James Version (NKJV)
10 When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy.
Yes, this would be awesome as a Christmas card!!!
Well, that's what I have for now. Except to say I really
appreciated what you had to say about striving to work in the
"uncomfortable zone" rather than relying on old tricks and
techniques. My sister, also a wonderful artist and teacher of
calligraphy and illuminated miniatures, tells me "plaster is your
crutch, let go of the plaster"...hahah! (Plaster mixed with
gel medium is my "go-to" art medium.)
Interesting, this creative journey called Life we are all on.
Do you paint every day? Thank you for sharing more of your
beautiful art with me! And your wise words, "in the end find
freedom". AMEN to that!!! :-)
Mighty blessings on you!
